www.chinanews.cn 2005-02-22 15:37:24

In the evening of February 19th (New York time), China's Hubei Beijing
Opera Theater performed the "Monkey King's three battles with the White
Bone Monster" at the Lincoln Center in New York. Michael Bloomberg, the
mayor of New York, wrote a letter to congratulate the Hubei Beijing Opera
Theater and declared the day to be the "Beijing Opera Day of New York".
The picture shows Liu Biwei, the Chinese consulate-general in New York
(seventh on the left), Shu Xiao, cultural counselor (fourth on the right)
and Jiang Changzhong, head of Hubei's culture department (fifth on the
left) on the stage to congratulate the performers for their successful
performance.
