www.chinanews.cn 2005-04-04 14:23:17
Chinanews, Apr. 4 - Beijing plans to invest US million to rebuild and
extend the city's medical infrastructure and update medical equipment, as
well as to integrate its emergency rescue resources, in an effort to
build an emergency medical treatment system, that includes an emergency
rescue network in urban areas, districts (counties) and streets (villages
and towns), for the 2008 Olympics.
Beijing plans to establish first-aid stations in its 132 districts and
add 22 stations in suburbs and counties this year. In addition, the city
will add 400 new ambulances and introduce first-aid airplanes to provide
air rescue.
During the 2008 Olympics, the current medical rescue system in Beijing
will be used for Olympic medical services. The Beijing Emergency Center
will act as the center for emergency response and head of the chain of
command. All venues and training halls, the main news center, the
International Broadcasting Center, and so on, will be equipped with
medical facilities that are capable of providing emergency medical
treatment and round-the-clock services to ensure that patients are
transferred to designated hospitals. Beijing will also set up a
high-speed and convenient channel to transfer patients between China and
other countries.
