Imported fruit safeguards

An identity confirmation system for imported fruits, which was proposed
by the Shanghai Bureau of Industry and Commerce, the Shanghai Economic
Commission and the Shanghai Association of Fruits, began trial
implementation on March 11th. Official implementation should start within
the year and the program should also witness gradual improvement. Fruit
buyers will be able to ask the seller to show his import confirmation.
However, some insiders said that the system was only a stopgap measure,
compared to the increasingly serious problem of fake products.
