Chinanews, Beijing, April 27 - The refurbishment project of the Qianmen
Street of Beijing started on the morning of April 27, when all the old
shops and restaurants along the street had to be temporarily closed until
the project is completed.
Quanjude, the famous Peking roast duck restaurant, received the last
group of customers on the evening of April 24. "Many old customers have
come here to have our roast ducks, since we won't resume business before
October," said a waiter of Quanjude.
"It is the first time for Quanjude to close business in its 143 years of
history," said Shi, deputy general manager of Quanjude.
