The Lhasa railway station, the largest station along the newly built
Qinghai-Tibet railway in western China, has opened.

June 21 - The Lhasa railway station, the largest station along the newly
built Qinghai-Tibet railway in western China, has opened.
The station is located on a plateau over 36 hundred meters above sea
level, and is equipped with a solar-powered heating system as well as
elevators to facilitate passengers'getting used to the altitude.
Construction of the two-thousand-kilometer-long railway was completed
last October, and trains are expected to start rolling in July.
